Your reading preferences stay under your control.
Optional reading-position memory is off until you choose it. Reading articles, comparing document types and using the question router do not require this optional feature.

What each choice does
- Accept all optional: enables the optional reading-position feature listed above.
- Reject non-essential: keeps that feature off and removes its saved reading record where possible.
- Manage preferences: lets you set the reading choice explicitly.
The necessary preference cookie is explained rather than presented as switchable. No analytics or advertising category is added to these controls because those technologies are not part of the built-in reader features.
Change your mind at any time
Use Cookie Settings in the footer or the persistent on-screen control. Reopening shows the saved reading choice when it is valid. Invalid or expired choices do not enable optional storage. If your browser blocks storage, the site reports the limitation and keeps optional saving off.
Turning off reading memory does not remove data held by a video provider, hosting service, email service or unrelated plugin. Removing a preference cookie in browser settings can make the first-visit panel appear again.
Without JavaScript
Articles and the server-rendered document explanations remain readable. Optional reading-position storage is not used. The persistent settings link opens this policy, and browser site-data settings can remove a previously saved cookie or reading record. Without JavaScript, the settings link leads to this explanation; use your browser’s site-data settings to remove saved data.
Other WordPress and hosting technology
This inventory was identified by inspecting the built-in reader code on September 30, 2026. It does not claim to enumerate cookies from WordPress sign-in, hosting security, a CDN or software added later. The active hosting and plugin configuration, including any separate duration and deletion behavior, requires publisher verification. These settings are not a universal blocker for unrelated integrations.
